THE WINTER SHOW
To the Editor of “ The Timaru Herald.” Sir,—ln reference to the correspondence in your paper on the Timaru Winter Show, I wish to add a few words which may help those interested to hold the popularity of the future Show's. As one interested as an exhibitor of imported machinery. Timaru Show, like all other small Shows, is being run with the sole object of producing a profit regardless of the wants of the general public. The rent of half a crown a square foot is excessive, such a price not being charged at the main centre Shows. As to the real value of the space, 5 - per foot frontage would be ample. It is easy to drawlarge gate receipts for a football match, or other such entertainments such as pictures or leg shows, etc., etc., but to hold an attendance for seven days at a Show on its merits alone, takes some doing.—l am, etc.. FAIR TO ALL. Christchurch. June 23.
