The Kernel Hempstead by-election due to Sir John Davidson’s election to the peerage, resulted:— Lady Davidson (Conservative) 14,992 Mrs Corbett Ashby (Liberal) .. 7,347 C. James (Labour) 3,561 (At the general election in November 1935. Sir John Davidson’s majority was 12,996).
