SEQUEL TO HEAVY DEFEAT

CONCERN IN AFRICAN CAMP RESTRICTIONS ON TEAM’S SOCIAL ACTIVITIES From the Spec.al Correspondent nt the Press Association (Received June 23, 11.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 23. According to the newspapers, the Springboks have not yet recovered from their decisive defeat last Saturday. There are repeated hints that the overwhelming hospitality lavished upon them was largely responsible. The Manager (Mr Percy Day) has sent a letter to each member of the team politely requesting them to be in their hotel not later than 11.15 p.m., to proceed direct to their rooms, and not enter the lounge. Players are requested to be in bed not later than 10 o’clock, on the night before a match, and are specially enjoined to smoke and drink as little as possible to ensure fitness. The captain (Philip Nel), is taking the team for a car ride to the bush next Saturday morning to enable the players to escape windy people who do nothing but talk Rugby. Nel insists that the players must get away from the football atmosphere. Twenty-seven Springboks had a valuable practice vesterday and to-day, Including M. Bester, who is showing no sign of Saturday’s injury.
