The maximum temperature was 42.0 degrees. The barometer fell during the day and registered 29.76 in at 5 p.m. Ashburton.— Light rain began to fall in Ashburton yesterday morning after conditions were early overcast. The temper^turp- was moderate, with a north-easterly wind. A frost of 4.2 degrees was recorded. Geraldine.— Dull, overcast and cold throughout the day. Temuka.— Yesterday was cold and dull with a black frost of six degrees. The maximum temperature was 45 degrees. The glass was falling last evening. Wainiate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday).—Thermometer, max. <*7.4; min. 30.0; frost 9 degrees; bright sunshine, 3 hours 36 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours 27. Yesterday was mainly overcast and cold. Dunedin.—A light frost was recorded in the city yesterday morning but it was felt much more severely in some of the suburbs, as much as 12 degrees of frost being recorded at the Botanic Gardens. The weather during the day continued cool, the maximum temperature being 46 degrees. The barometer fell to 29.90 inches.
