GENERAL NEWS
At a meeting to elect a committee to control the school building, the following were elected: —Messrs A. E. Kerr, J. Little, M. Sams, D. Moodie and Mrs W. Brown. Mr Kerr is chairman and Mr J. Little secretary and treasurer. At the fortnightly euchre party held under the auspices of the Miniature Rifle Club, the winners were: Women, Mrs Thompson 1, Mrs Smolensk! 2; men. Mr H. Campbell 1, Mr D. Nelson 2. The consolation prizes went to Miss J. Heise and Mr P. Randall. One of the oldest landmarks, in South Canterbury, the old Levels woolshed at Cave, is being demolished, and a more modem and up to date building will be erected in its place. The present building was built by the late Mr George Rhodes in 1865, and was shifted’ in sections by bullock waggons to its present site at Cave in the early seventies.
