FAIRLIE

EXCURSION TO WINTER SHOW BUSINESS PREMISES CLOSED Business premises and the District High School were closed yesterday, and a special excursion train leaving at 9 a.m. had <3OO passengers when it reached Timaru. There were only 11 on the ordinary train when it left Fairlie. Many people throughout the district made the trip by car. The decision to have a holiday was made by the business people recently, and it was decided to make the date suit the school excursion. The main argument influencing the decision was that Timaru people were always willing to assist fmictions in Fairlie, and their help in that respect should be reciprocated. Thompson 75, E. Pike 75, W. Dorman 74, A. Shute 73, J. Cassie 73, W. H. Cook 72, W. Close 71, A. Seay 71. Last week’s trophy was won by R. Fergusson and the weekly button by W. H. Cook with 76 off the rifle.
