MISS M. WHITFIELD HONOURED In view of her approaching marriage. Miss Mary Whitfield was tendered a complimentary social by the teachers of the Presbyterian Sunday School in the Presbyterian Hall on Tuesday evening. The Rev. W. F. Nichol presided and after several games the superintendent of the Sunday School, Mr A. J. Davey, spoke on behalf of the teachers. He said that Miss Whitfield had always been a willing worker in the Sunday School, and he wished her much happiness in her married life. Mr G. Taylor, the bridegroom elect, had also done much as a teacher said Mr Davey, and he presented the guest with a set of Chinese brass bowls. Other teachers also spoke, and on behalf of himself and Miss Whitfield. Mr Taylor replied. PERSONAL Mr W. Spillane is visiting Wellington as a delegate from Temuka to the annual conference of the Dominion Returned Soldiers’ Association. Mr and Mrs M. Guild, "Trevenna,’’ are visiting Dunedin. DRUIDS LODGE Arch Druid Bro. J. McN. Fisher reported at the fortnightly meeting of the Druids Lodge held on Tuesday evening that he had attended a fraternal gathering of various Druids' Lodges in Timaru last Saturday. It was a well organised gathering and it was agreed to congratulate the organisers. The Bards reported that there were two brothers on the sick list. Two new members were proposed and will be initiated later. A brother offered to make a past officers’ honours board and was accorded a vote of thanks.
