Four more were killed in a clash between strikers and police bringing the lost of dead to fourteen. Four platoons of marines landed from HM3. Ajax and established machine guns in strategic positions in order to protect the oilfields. H.M.S. Exeter is expected soon with reinforcements. At Rioclara a mob burned the railway station, tore up the tracks and cut the telephone wires isolating the region. The Port of Spain harbour workers declared a sympathy strike. The entire oil industry of the island is crippled and much other business is suspended.

There was another death and eight more wounded when deputised volunteers fired on a group of strikers, who were attacking the San Fernando telephone exchange. The strikers had previously been driven out from the power plant, after cutting off electricity. The hunt is still being conducted for the negro labour organiser, Uria Butler, whom the authorities blame for the oil strike.
