Miss M. McAuliffe, Dunedin, is a guest at the Empire. Mr and Mrs Keach and Miss Aldiss, Tasmania, are guests at the Grosvenor. Mr and Mrs John Kerr, Scotland, are staying at the Empire. Mrs W. Lambie, Ashburton, is staying at the Dominion. Miss N. Robinson, Chertsey, is a guest at the Dominion. Mr and Mrs P. Hosking, Cromwell, are registered at the Dominion. Mr and Mrs L. L. Gilkison, Lumsden, are guests at the Grand. Mr and Mrs W. Dibble and Miss Baillie, Te Awamutu, are at the Dominion. Mrs Killian, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs Henry Harper, “Grassy Hills,” Kurow, left yesterday for Kaikoura. Mrs J. Duncan, who was the guest of Mrs Stephen Gillingham, Fairlie, left on Tuesday on her return to Australia. Miss Kitty Williams, who will leave shortly on a trip to England is staying with her sisters, the Misses Williams, Geraldine. Mr Melville Jameson, formerly of “Otumarama,” Timaru, and Mrs Jameson, have recently arrived in New Zealand from England. Miss Elworthy and Miss Nancy Bond, “Pareora Cottage,” LeCren’s Terrace, have returned from a visit to the North Island. Visitors from Christchurch staying at the Grosvenor are Mr and Mrs Hugh Denniston, Mrs M. J. Ballantyne, and Mrs W. J. Hudson. Mr and Mrs I. C. Coull, Mrs W. O. McKellar, Mrs W. F. Edmond, Mr and Mrs MacGregor Reid and Miss Reid, Dunedin, are registered at the Grosvenor. Miss Brenda Guthrie and Miss Barton, who have recently returned from a visit from England were guests at the Grosvenor before leaving for Dunedin. Mr and Mrs Denbee, Masterton, Mrs J. Anniss, Fairlie, Mrs Boland, North Island, Sister Cameron and Mr J. Orr, Auckland, are guests at Te Kainga, Wai-iti Road. Mrs J. C. Templer, Geraldine, who will leave for Christchurch on April 4 will be the guest of Miss Maberley Beadel for the autumn foursomes golf tournament. Miss Elizabeth Alpers, who left Christchurch last year for London, has completed a course of training at St. James’s Secretaria College, London, and has gained her diploma with the added distinction of winning a college shield, the highest honour the college awards. The shield, the winning of which is not a frequent occurrence, is awarded to students who gain more than 90 per cent, in each examination. Miss Alpers gained 91 per-cent. in typing, 97 per cent, in shorthand, and 97 per cent, in book-keeping. Miss Alpers, who is the only daughter of the late Mr Justice Alpers and .qf Mrs Alpers, Fendalton, has accented a temporary position ip Lpndon' as/.assistant to the secretary of the Royal Soldiers’ daughters’ home. . Miss Abram, principal of St. James's College, visited New Zealand in 1935! and another New Zealander at the school is Miss Yvonne Champtaloup, Dunedin.
