GIVEN UP AS DEAD
RETURN AFTER HOPE ABANDONED United Press Association—By Elsctrte Telegraph- Copyright LONDON, March 9. joy was brought overnight to the homes of Ronald White, a 31-year-old Birmingham chemist, and Bernard Jones a 13-year-old Warwickshire boy, who returned safe and well after their disappearance on Boxing Day at Ill—fracombe. Their car was found deserted at the pier, and it was feared they had perished climbing the cliffs. White explains that they were cut off by the tide, while walking along the beach. They found a dinghy and tried to row to the pier, but were swept out tc sea. A freighter bound for Buenos Aires picked them up exhausted. Transhipment was impossible, so they were carried on to South America. They lived by doing odd jobs ashore, till they were able to work their passage home.
