SERIOUS 'QUAKES
MINOR DAMAGE IN SAN FRANCISCO HALF AS STRONG AS BIG UPHEAVAL United Piess Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 10, 1 a.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, March 9. A four-hour series of earthquakes broke windows, toppled chimneys and unshelfed merchandise stores in the East Bay cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Albany and Richmond. None was injured. A hurried inspection of the two huge bridges of the Bay revealed that they were not damaged. The earthquake is estimated to have been half as strong i the devastating one in 1906. A slight quake was felt 24 houns later in Ohio, Kentucky. Indiana. Michigan, West Virginia, Illinois, Wisconsin and Ontario.
