TERM OF PARLIAMENT

REFERENDUM LIKELY By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, March 9. Asked whether Coronation Day would be observed as a public holiday, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage said that the Government had not yet considered the matter but he thought it probably would. “It seems a fair thing," he added. He did not expect to be unduly delayed on his visit overseas and probably would be back in New Zealand early in July. The session of Parliament would probably begin about the middle of August. Referring to the Government’s election programme. Mr Savage said that after next session there would not be much left to fulfil of the election promises. The two major questions outstanding were the introduction cf national superannuation and a national health bill. Those would be dealt with even if they had to extend the session into the early part of next year. The question of the term of Parliament would be discussed next session. There might be a referendum in the question.
