ORARI SCHOOL CLOSED CASE OF INFANTILE PARALYSIS Owing to a case of infantile paralysis having occurred in the Orari district, the Orari School has been closed until further notice, an announcement to this effect having been made by the secretary of the Education Board, Mr L. E. Rowley. The case is that of a boy, aged eight, who has been admitted to the Timaru Hospital. The case was reported to Dr. T. Fletcher Telford. district medical officer of health for Canterbury and Westland, on Monday. WHITE BUTTLRFLY PEST With a view to checking the ravages of the white butterfly, Mr P. G. Withers senr., of “Limpsfield,” Speechly’s Bridge, has secured a quantity of parasites from the Government entomologist at the Plant Research Bureau, Palmerston North. Mr Withers secured six tubes of the parasites, which were released on his property on Saturday. The result of the experiment will be watched with much interest throughout the district. PERSONAL The Postmaster. Mr L. S. R. King, who has been on annual leave, has returned from Wellington. During Mr King’s absence, Mr C. E. Rose has been acting postmaster. Mr A.
