SHUNTING ACCIDENT
RAILWAY CLERK KILLED By Telegraph ■vs.-nciation DUNED7 4, March 44. During shunting operations at Seacliff at 7.10 this morning, Rowland Neilson Familton, 24, a relieving railway clerk, was killed when a waggon ran over him. After applying the brakes on the trucks he jumped directly in front of five waggons on another set of rails and was run down, not realising the shunting operations were n progress there. Deceased was a native of Oamaru and represented North Otago at Rugby. He was also a good swimmer, participating in -• gallant rescue at Campbell’s Bay some time ago.
