TIMARU BRANCH » The monthly meeting of the Timaru Branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday. Present: Mesdames L. M. Inglis (in the chair), W. Sowerby, G. D. Virtue, F. S. Wilson, T. B. Lane, D. Cronin, C. W. Wood Jun., R. T. Turnbull, D. B. Shand, C. S. Bruce, G. R. Lee, F. F. A. Ulrcih. A letter was read from Mrs H. L. Wimsett tendering her resignation, owing to her removal to Ashburton. It was decided to send Mrs Wimsett a letter of appreciation of her services as the country representative at St. Andrews. That the committee could ill-afford to lose such a valuable worker, was the opinion expressed by the president. Mrs V. C. Meehan was granted six months’ leave of absence from the committee, as she would be taking a trip to England. Arrangements were made for the Paddy’s Market, and members were asked to collect cakes and produce, and second-hand clothing. Preliminary plans were discussed to hold a Coronation ball in May, to take the place of the Show night ball. Nurse’s Report Nurse Barnett reported as follows: The number of new cases, both town and country, is as follows: Breast fed 16 Mixed feeding 1 Artificial feeding 2 19 Ante natal 2 Transfers 4 Total 25 Visits to rooms— Adults , 342 Babies 321 Older children 52 Total 715 Visits to homes— Old cases 276 New cases 43 Total 319 One visit was paid to Pareora during the month. One baby who was not doing well was admitted to the public hospital. The health of the babies and elder children was satisfactory.
