DRASTIC MEASURES IN RUMANIA United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright BUCHAREST, March 2. Following the attempted assassination of a rector, the Cabinet decided to close all the universities’ student centres until reorganised. They placed a ban on students belonging to political parties participating in political demonstrations, under pain of expulsion. This tightens up the ban on the wearing of political uniforms. The Government proposes the immediate dissolution of Masonic Lodges, and is resolved to stamp out the activities of the Fascist Iron Guard. It has asked the Bishops to discourage church interference in politics, and encourage priests io preach goodwill among citizens. WAR ON THE CHURCH NON-ARYANS MUST LEAVE CATHOLIC SCHOOLS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph - -Copvrteht MUNICH, March 2. The Government struck a surprise blow at Bavarian Catholicism, when it decreed that all non-Aryans employed in Catholic schools and institutions must be discharged without pension. Aryans must prove themselves as unreservedly Nazi. Catholic authorities regard the decree as aimed at destroying the remaining Catholic institutions in Bavaria.
