Commencing at 1.30 p.m. to-day at School Road, Fairlie, A. N. Oakey and Co. will conduct a clearing sale of choice household furniture. Chesterfield suite and tent for Mrs L. M. Brice. Fuller details of the sale were advertised in yesterday’s “Herald.” The new business written by the Government Life Insurance Department for the year ended December 31, 1936, totalled £2,863.186. The figure establishes a new record for the Department, and represents an increase of 43 per cent over the previous record year, 1935, when £2,005,128 worth of new business was secured. The following figures for the last five years reflect the steady growth of the Department's new business:—l932, £1,104,644; 1933, £1,294,906; 1934, £1,661,740; 1935, £2,005,128; 1936, £2,863,186.
