BAIL REFUSED
ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, December 26 lan Gordon Cowan (17), cashier, was charged before Mr F. W. Stilwell, S.M., to-day with the attempted murder of John McMillan (79). Detective Jan-old asked for a remand till January 2 . The arrest, he said, was made yesterday afternoon by Detectives McLennan and Ritchie. The victim was to undergo an operation this morning for the removal of the bullet. In the circumstances he did not recommend that the accused should be allowed his liberty. A remand was granted.
