AERO CLUB
DECISIONS OF ANNUAL MEETING By Telegraph —Press Association WELLINGTON. November 27 The annual meeting of the New Zealand Aero Club was held to-day. The following officers were elected: President, Mr H. J. Manchester; vicepresidents, Messrs A. S. Burgess and T. E. O’Dowd; hon. auditor, Mr F. Forsyth. A tribute was paid to Mr Weinstein who did not seek re-election as president. Application is to be made to the Governor-General to make representations to His Majesty for an alteration of title to the Royal New Zealand Aero Club. A proposal was adopted to establish an award of honour for meritorious service to aviation or for any outstanding feat achieved in connection with aviation. The Club is to call for competitive designs for a medal, a prize of five guineas to be given for the best design. The North Island and South Island pageants, 1937, were allocated to the Western Federated and West Coast clubs respectively, and will be held at Wanganui and Hokitika on dates to be arranged later. The Director of Air Services is to be asked to arrange for the examination for the first appointment and B license being held on separate dates so that candidates would have an opportunity of sitting for both. A resolution expressed approval of the action of clubs in providing advanced training, the Government to be acquainted with what is being done in this connection. The Government is to be asked for the exemption of aerodromes from the payment of land tax. In view of the fact that only four Miles Hawk machines will be available from the Government instead of the six previously expected, the chairman ruled that the former allocation resolution could not stand, and after discussion it was resolved that claims be submitted in writing by the applying clubs.
