FAREWELL PARTY

Mrs C. R. Orr-Walker was again the guest of honour when an enjoyable afternoon was given for her yesterday by Mrs W. Thomas, Te Weka Street, and Mrs L. S. Talbot, Te Weka Street The function took place at Mrs Thomas’s home, the guests later going through the grounds to see Mrs Talbot's picturesque garden, which with its winding paths, flowering shrubs and flowers looked lovely. Mrs Thomas wore a frock of black georgette patterned in cherry and green, with coatee with sleeves of georgette and lace and a sash of green and cherry georgette. Mrs Talbot’s suit of black marocain was made with a short coat and was worn with a patterned crepe de chene blouse, black seisal straw hat and furs.

The guest of honour’s frock of black taffeta was lightly patterned with white, the skirt plain fitting, and flaring from the knees. The basqued bodice was finished with a collar and frilled jabot of white net, two frills of the net edging the short puff sleeves. Her .tricorne hat of black straw was trimmed with a white rose placed flatly on the crown.

The reception room was decorated with apricot roses and bowls of mixed flowers, the hall with mist blue irises and in the dining-room copper coloured leaves were arranged on the mantlepiece and bowls of Iceland poppies on the table were yellow and blue irises. The competition played during the afternoon was won by Mrs W. G. Tweedy and Mrs G. Webster.
