TABLE TENNIS RETURN MATCH PLAYED The return table tennis match between teams representing the Temuka and Geraldine Volunteei' Fire Brigades was played at Temuka on Monday evening and resulted in the visitors winning by nine games to eight after an evenly contested match. Before the commencement of play the Temuka captain (Mr R. L. Stokes) welcomed the team to Temuka and assured them of an enjoyable evening. Mr J. Mitchelmore (Geraldine) responded. Following the table tennis a game of scally wag was played and resulted in a win for Geraldine by 5 wins and 63 points to 1 game and 59 points. GENERAL NEWS Vital statistics for Temuka for the month of August were as follows (the corresponding period of last year being in parentheses): Births 8 (6), deaths 1 (0), marriages 2 (2). The rainfall for the month of August amounted to 1.31 inches as compared with .93 inches for the same month c f last year. Rain fell on seven days, the heaviest falls being registered on August 28, 29 and 30, when 61, 22 and 12 points respectively fell. To date this year 22.67 inches have been recorded which is an increase of 7.63 Inches for the corresponding period of last year. In the interests of the Temuka and District Basketball Association a dance .will be held in the Clandeboye Hall on Saturday, September 5 at 8 p.m.
