Be at the Timaru Post Office at eight or nine o’clock on Tuesday night, when cars will leave for the mystery ball. Free cars will be provided for those unable to provide their own. The information that the Railway Department is organising another
“hike” in the popular Mt. Somers district will be welcomed by all trampers, especially those who have previously visited this attractive tramping area. The tramp is over entirely nevi ground so far as the mystery hikes are concerned, and the route lies mainly over “downs” country, making the tramp very pleasant and keeping it within the powers of the average person. Trampers from the three centres, Christchurch, Ashburton and Timaru, are combining for this trip, the train leaving Christchurch at 8.45 a.m., Timaru at 8.10 a.m. and Ashburton at 10.52 a.m. Timaru trampers will change trains at Ashburton. Hot water, tea, milk and sugar will be provided free by the Railway Department.
