CRUTCHINGS SALE

GOOD PRICES REALISED By Telegraph —Press Association DUNEDIN, August 28. A sale of crutchings and oddments was held to-day when 2319 bales were offered. There was a very large attendance of buyers and competition was general. There was a good demand from Continental buyers for pieces and very keen competition from Japan for the fleece wool offered which sold at a marked advance on April rates. Superior crutchings, both halfbred and crossbred, sold fully up to recent northern sales, up to 10i‘d being paid for halfbred crutchings and lOd for crossbred. The bulk of the best crutching sold from 9d to 9Bd, which shows a substantial appreciation on last season’s realisations. Secondary and inferior sorts did not sell up to expectations, and fine crossbred crutchings also appeared to be more or less neglected and there were some passings in these grades. The sale generally must be considered a very satisfactory one and a good clearance was effected. Following is a range of prices.— Merino crutchings to 10*d, halfbred super 9*d to 102 d, medium to good Bid to 9id, seedy and inferior 6£d to 7*d, crossbred crutchings super 9d to lOd, medium to good 72d to 83d, seedy and inferior 6Sd to 7id, fine crossbred crutchings super 8d to 9d, medium to good 7d to 7id, seedy and inferior 6d to 63d, fine half bred fleece average to good 13 Sd to 16*d, medium half bred Hid, to 13id, fine crossbred lOd to 13d, crossbred 8d to 93d.
