HEAD-ON SMASH
FOUR PERSONS INJURED By Telerraph Hew Association WELLINGTON, August 23. In a head-on smash between two cars on the main road near Waikanae this morning, four persons were injured. In one car those hurt were— Mrs F. W. Petherwick, Wellington, concussion, severe head and chest injuries, condition very serious. Mr F. W. Petherwick, her husband, head injuries. Miss Eileen Murphy. Wellington, badly cut arm. In the other car were Mr W. A. Waters, Power Board engineer, Palmerston North, and his son. W. Waters, aged 15, who had an arm broken and his face cut, and also received a violent blow on the head. The father was not badly hurt. Mr and Mrs Petherwick are in hospital at Wellington and the boy at Palmerston North. The cars were badly smashed.
