Stahl production being screened at the Elite
Theatre to-night for the last time. Irene Dunne and Robert Taylor are starred in this love drama and important supporting roles in the large cast are enacted by such popular players as Charles Butterworth, Betty Furness, Sara Haden, Ralph Morgan, Henry Armetta and Gilbert Emery. Sixteen weeks of intensive effort were devot-.l to its filming, after preparation that covered more than six months. Over four thousand extra players were used in its various scenes. From a production standpoint, “Magnificent Obsession” is unusual, many lavish settings having been constructed as backgrounds for its stirring action. Among these were a large section of the transAtlantic liner Normandie, and a perfect reproduction of the Montmartre district of Paris.
Procters, the Opticians, Christchurch, will be making their next professional visit to Temuka on Tuesday, September 15, when they may be consulted on all defects of eyesight at the Crown Hotel. Appointments can now be made by ringing the U.F.S. Dispensary, ’phone 240 M
