WOMEN’S DIVISION
FAIRLIE At the August meeting of the Fairlie Branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union, a presentation was made to Mrs G. Moran, and regret was expressed at her departure as she had been a very active member of the Division. The presentation took the form of a handsome vase. Mrs E. R. Goulter presided over a good attendance at the meeting. A motion of sympathy with the Talbot family was carried in silence. Two new members were elected, Mrs Davison, and Miss Bray. A welcome to visitors and members of other institutes was extended by Mrs Goulter.
In an enjoyable social held during the afternoon, items were contributed by Doreen Connor and Helen Flynn (duet). Noeline Wareing (chantreuse). Doreen Connor (tap dance), Miss M. O’Connor (pianoforte solo, “Voices of Spring”), Nan Grant and Marjorie Doyle (Highland fling), Mrs Latimer (pianoforte solo, “Country Gardens”), Mrs E. R. Goulter, Mrs Wareing, Mrs G. H. Patton and Misses Macdonald and Scott (play reading).
At afternoon tea. the following toasts were honoured: “The Women’s Institute” (“Mrs Goulter and Mrs Latimer), “The Women’s Division” (Mrs Crichton and Miss Macdonald), “The Gentlemen” (Mrs Creighton and Mrs Bray), “The Farmers’ Union” (Mrs Keenan and Miss M. Whatman).
