DOMAIN IMPROVEMENTS

Work has been commenced with the planting of the wattle drive at the eastern end of the Temuka Domain. Already about 500 trees have been planted, and according to the curator (Mr G. Fletcher) more than 1000 will be required before the drive is completed. A row of wattle trees, given by Mrs Macdonald, Orari, runs along the top of the bank, while next to it is a row of bluegums. Two rows of pines are being planted along the embankment beside the track. At present about one-half of the drive has been planted. As the remaining macrocarpas are cut, the drive will be extended. Yesterday the work of planting the remaining trees, which will constitute an extension to the native shrubbery, was completed.
