RURAL WORKERS
FIXATION OF WAGES By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, August 10. As soon as the Mortgage Adjustment Bill is through the Minister of Labour (Hon. H. T. Armstrong) will introduce legislation governing the wages and conditions of employment of workers on dairy farms. Mr Armstrong said this Bill, which will make provision for annual holidays, is based on an agreement with the Farmers’ Union. It is not proposed to go beyond the scope of the agreement. Once this legsilation became law there was little doubt that other farm workers would come in, said Mr Armstrong. It was probable that Jhere would be further negotiations with the Farmers’ Union on their behalf.
