SPENDING POWER
IMPROVEMENT NOTED By Teleerranh —Press Association WELLINGTON, June 11. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan. Minister of Industries and Commerce, says that reports of his officers who are in very close touch with all sections of commercial activity are in line with information reaching him from other sources to the effect that an improvement is being experienced on all sides. A striking feature is that a better quality of article is in demand, indicating that spending power has improved. Building acticity is most marked but the improvement is not confined thereto, numerous other lines showing much better results, and there is every prospect of a continuance. This is most encouraging and is an effective reply to those who, to suit their own purposes, insist that there is a lack of confidence in business, and that the Government policy spells ruin and disaster. He is satisfied that there is more real confidence and optimism than at any time since those years that are referred to as the depression, and he is equally certain that this spirit will be even more marked when the full effect of th? policy is felt right throughout the Dominion.
