DUCHESS OF KENT

NEW HAIRDRESSING STYLE Women will show their ears this season and adorn them with stud earrings, preferably pearls or diamonds, states the London “Daily Telegraph.” The new hairdressipg was launched on April 21 by the Duchess of Kent to go with her latest hat, worn at her first public function of King Edward’s reign, the opening of an exhibition of British-made silk stockings at the Forum> Club. She had her hair arranged at the sides in two rows of ■eurls, which curved upwards from the cheek to expose the ear. Four rows of curls at the back met them. She wore pearl earrings. Her diminutive oval-shaped black pillbox hat was perched well over the right eye. The crown was covered by a black ostrich feather, which drooped at the back over the curls. Under her fur-trimmed black coat she had a striking black gown with a raised spot design. Two rows of pearls were the Duchess's choice of jewellery. She wore black gloves and stockings. The Duchess watched the process of making the black silk stockings worn by men at the Royal levees. “I like the finest stockings I can get,” the Duchess told a woman hosiery manufacturer. “I am looking forward to getting back into light colours.” She is having some fine gunmetal stockings in 51-gaugs sent to her for selection. A box of white socks was presented to her for Prince Edward.
