BLUECLIFFS. At the January meeting of the Bluecliffs Women’s Institute, Mrs Cocks presided over a good attendance of members and friends. Members stood in silence for one minute as a mark of respect to a fellow member, the Queen. A letter of sympathy was sent to Mrs Vincent in her recent bereavement. The monthly three minute talk was given by Mrs Squire who spoke on "Dudley Dobson.” The social competition was won >y Mrs Weeks. A very interesting demonstration was given by Miss C. Bell on smocking, who was accorded a vote of thanks. The competitions resulted .-—Slice of Christmas cake: Miss McManus 1, Mrs Collier 2, Mrs Cocks and Miss R. Beattie (equal) 3. Article from Miss Gray’s demonstration: Miss J. Beattie. Premier bloom: Mrs Collier. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Collins, Mrs Dale and Miss Cocks.
