OFFICIAL FIGURES The official count of the votes cast at the recent poll for the Timaru seat was commenced yesterday at 9 a.m., and was expeditiously put through to be completed In the afternoon by the returning officer (Mr W. Harte) and his staff. The final figures were: Rev. C. L. Can- (Lab.) .. .. 6524 W. Thomas (Indep. Nat.) .. 5465 On the first count the figures were: Carr 6037, Thomas 5053, giving Carr a majority of 984. The final figures have increased his majority to 1059. The postal votes, totalling 246, were cast as follow: Carr 102, Thomas 134, the absentee votes, numbering 620, being as follow: Carr 364, Thomas 256, There were 74 Informal votes at the poll. The total on the roll this year was 13,471, and of this number 12,063 exercised the franchise.
