With reference to the visit of the Australian cyclists, it was announced that a change in the arrangements had taken place as a result of the inability of Arne Bate to make the trip. However, the Society was fortunate in that another rider, Len Rodgers, had undertaken to accompany Joe Waish on the tour. The performances of both men indicated that they were champions and should give a good account of themselves against the best in New Zealand, including Foote who had signified his intention of competing. The Waimate Caledonian Society and Poverty Bay Cycling Club had definitely booked the cyclists to appear on December 26 and January 11 respectively. It was hoped that Christchurch and Wellington Centres would be agreeable to putting on meetings for the benefit of the Australians. Mr P. Shanahan, Auckland, was appointed judge of dancing and Mr W. Cargo, Seadown, judge of piping. Mr Geo. Murray, Braemar, wrote making a donation of £1 towards the sports fund. It was decided to write and thank Mr Murray for his interest.
