The Moscow correspondent of “The Daily Telegraph” says that when M. Laval (French Foreign Minister) arrived, he found the station decorated with red flags and French tricolours. Miss Zina Litvinoff presented M. Laval’s daughter with a bouquet of white roses. The band played “The Marseillaise” and “The Internationale.” M. Laval drove through the streets, lined with spectators, to the residence of a former textile millionaire, M. Morosoff, where he will stay as the guest of the Soviet. The crowd in the street applauded, but was less demonstrative than on the occasion of Captain Eden’s visit. After a conference with M. Litvinoff, M. Laval visited Lenin’s tomb and a new underground railway. He attended a banquet in the evening followed by a reception at which there were 500 guests and Soviet generals. The gowns worn by the wives of Soviet officials were subject to favourable comment among the French delegation. The guests Included 40 French journalists. The diplomatic correspondent of “The Daily Herald” says that Turkey formally notified the Ambassadors that If there was any revision of the military clauses of the Peace Treaty, Turkey will ask for a revision of the Straits Convention of 1923 with the restoration of the right to fortify the Dardanelles and to forbid foreign warships to pass the Straits.
