FUTURE OF INDIA
COMMITTEE STAGE OF NEW BILL British Official Wireless (Received May 14, .5 p.m.) RUGBY, May 13. The committee stage of the Government of India Bill, to which 30 days of Parliamentary time has been allotted in the House of Commons, will be brought to an end on Wednesday. During the discussion, which was resumed to-day, of the amendment directed towards extending the areas excluded or partially excluded from its normal operation by Schedule 6 of the Bill, Lord Eustace Perby suggested that the Secretary for India should be given the power either before the appointed day or within one or two years after it, to add other areas to those excluded. The Attorney-General said the schedule would be withdrawn pending the preparation of an Order-in-Ooun-cil which would be submitted with all the necessary information regarding the areas it was proposed to exclude.
