Dominion Meteorologist General situation—An intense anticyclone is still centred near Chatham Island, while depressions are located respectively in the northern and southern portions of the Tasman Sea. Winds —North-east to northerly, turning later to north-west in the far south, light to moderate at first, but increasing. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Rather rough to rough north of East Cape and increasing swell on the West Coast, otherwise smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Moderate to strong northerly winds and rather rough seas. Weather—Mainly fair in eastern districts, rain in the western and southern portions of the South Island, in the north-eastern portion of the North Island, and developing later north of Auckland; temperatures mild. Mr F. L. Wooles Wind —Light to moderate north-east to south-east. Weather —Somewhat unsettled, but mainly fair to cloudy in the meantime. Conditions In Timaru A very slight frost was registered at Timaru Park yesterday morning. The day was fine and sunny, but late in the afternoon the sky clouded over, conditions being overcast and fairly cold at night.
