PAREORA
JUBILEE SERVICE A special service in connection with the King’s Jubilee was held in the Pareora Methodist Church on Sunday evening. The Rev. L. J. Hodson, Presbyterian minister, conducted the service, and every seat in the church was occupied. There was a full parade of Guides under Captain Nelson. The lessons were read by Lieutenant A. Coote and Guide Leader H. Lange. A solo was sung by Mrs Wilkie and a trio by Mrs Wilkie and the Misses Wilkie. At the close of a memorable and most eloquent address, Pipers D. and L. Munro played stirring music while the congregation dispersed. GENERAL After a record season work has slackened off considerably at the local freezing works, consequently several men have been dismissed.
