PLEASANT POINT SALE RECORD ENTRIES A special sale was held yesterday at Pleasant Point yards. The entry of fat cattle and sheep was the largest for the month of May that most farmers can recall, the market notr concluding until after dark. Taken all round the sale was a most successful one, practically the whole of the entry changing hands. Fat Cattle: The total offered was more than 170 head, a good proportion being good quality steers, cows and heifers. The sale all round was excellent, especially so when 100 head more than usual was on offer. Prices were: Fat steers (prime) £7 2s 6d to £8 17s 6d, (medium) £5 17s 6d to £6 7s 6d, (light) £4 7s 6d to £5 2s 6d, fat heifers (best) £6 2s 6d to £8 12s 6d, (medium) £4 2s 6d to £5 12s 6d, (light) £2 12s 6d to £3 12s 6d, cows (good) £5 12s 6d to £7 7s 6d, (medium) £3 12s 6d to £4 7s 6d, (light) £2 2s 6d to £2 17s 6d, runners (best) £3 12s 6d to £4 ss, (medium) £2 17s 6d to £3 ss, vealers 15/to 34/-. Store Cattle: The entry was not a good one, few well-bred sorts coming forward. The sale was on a par with other markets. Sales were: Bulls 26/to £2 7s 6d. cows and calves to 37/6, cows empty 10/- to 30/-, 2-year heifers 30/- to 37/6, yearling steers 28/6, calves 7/6. Dairy Cattle: There was a large entry of dairy cows most of which were lacking in quality. Several buyers were present, looking for early calvers, but were not satisfied. The range was springing cows to £4 15s, July calvers 30/- to £2 15s, September calvers 22/6 to £3 10s.

Pigs: More than 80 pigs were offered, the sale being a dragging one, the only spirited competition shown being for good store pigs. The range was: Weaners 5/-.to 8/-, slips to 10/-, stores to 24/-.

Fat Lambs: The total offering was in the vicinity of 1500 head. A full bench of exporters operated keenly at full schedule rates. Prices for prime fat lambs ranged from 19/- to 21/7 with others from 15/- to 17/-.

Fat Sheep: Three and a half races were forward, the entry being exceptional for this time of year. The sale, although not so good as the previous one, was very satisfactory. Values were: Prime fat ewes 18/- to 20/1, good fat ewes 16/- to 17/6, exporters' ewes 10/- to 14/-, fat wethers (prime) 24/- to 29/-, fat wethers (medium) 21/- to 23/-.

Store Sheep: A large entry of store sheep met with a keen sale. Wether and ewe lambs, store wethers and ewes selling at rates well in keeping with other good sales. Sales were: Ewe lambs 15/6 to 17/11, wether lambs 8/to 14/6, cull lambs 6/6, 2,4, 6 and 8tooth ewes 18/3 to 18/9. 2-tooth wethers 18/6 to 20/-, full nouth ewes 14/to 15/9. Horses: Abou 20 draughts and hackney horses were forward, but few were outstanding. Four year draughts made up to £4O 10s, and hacks from t 3 to £6, aged horses sold up to £lO.
