DISASTROUS ’QUAKE IN LESSER ANTILLES United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright (Received May 8, 7.0 p.m.) PLYMOUTH (Montserrat), May 7. Losses of hundreds of thousands of dollars have been sustained as the result of the most destructive earthquake here since 1843. There were no fatalities, but scores of homes were destroyed. Residents became panic stricken as the island rocked suddenly at the height of the jubilee celebrations on Monday. Flying stones and mortar menaced thousands of masqueraders thronging the streets. Joymakers from the country districts rushed back to find many homes destroyed or damaged.
