WEDDINGS

SMITH—COOCHEY St. Peter's Church, Temuka, was the scene of a very pretty wedding recently, - when Clara Millicent, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Coochev, Clandeboye, was married to Ronald Francis, younger son of Mr and Mrs F. J Smith, Temuka. The Rev. C. L. Mountfort performed the ceremony. The bride was given away by her father, her maids being her sister, Miss Bertha Coochey, and Miss Marion Smith, the bridegroom’s sister. Mr George Smith was best man, and Mr Fred Coochey was groomsman. The bridesmaids’ frocks r of blue georgette and lace, gave contrast to the bridal gown, which was of ivory crepe satin daintily fashioned with long sleeves, trimmed with tiny buttons from the shoulder to the elbow. The bodice was made with cowl neckline, and was held in place, with a true lover’s knot. The veil of silk net fell in dainty folds, from a circlet of orange blossom buds. She carried a bouquet of coloured chrysanthemums, and maidenhair fern. The maids’ becoming frocks were made alike, with blue lace yolks, georgette bodices and long ankle length skirts, an effective touch being the large bow of georgette tied at the back. They had big lace puff sleeves. Both wore a band of rosebuds round their heads. They carried posies of autumn flowers, edged with tulle net, and tied with satin ribbon. The bride’s mother wore a brown frock, with hat to tone. Mrs Smith, the bridegroom’s mother, was also in a brown frock with a cream crepe-de-chene collar, and contrasting buttons. She wore a grey coat and wine-colour-ed hat. The guests later attended a reception at the home of the bridegroom. When Mr and Mrs R. F. Smith left by car on their honeymoon, the latter wore a frock of blue tweed relieved with dove-grey. She wore a blue hat, and coat to match. Mr and Mrs Smith’s future home will be at Clandeboy4.

WILLIAMS—WILSON The Sydenham Methodist Church was attractively decorated with chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern for the wedding celebrated there recently of Lilian Gertrude Ellen, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Wilson, Sydenham, to Alfred Roland, eldest son of Mr and Mrs G. Williams, Timaru. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. Richards, Mr Evans being organist. The bride was given away by her father. She wore a frock of ivory satin made closely fitting to the knees, then flaring to reach the ground. The sleeves were softly fashioned of lace, with points shaping over the hands. Her embroidered veil formed a long train and was arranged in cap style, with orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums relieved with pink. The chief bridesmaid was Miss D. Williams, whose frock of blue crepe de chene was made with panelled skirt, falling to the ground, and short puffed sleeves prettily rucked, a finishing touch being lent by a spray of forget-me-nots at the neck line. Miss M. Bertwistle was in pink taffeta, her frock being similar to that of the chief bridesmaid. Both wore picture hats to tone, and carried bouquets of chrysanthemums. Mr A. G. Williams and Mr H. Henry, both of Timaru, supported the bridegroom.

At the reception the bride’s mother received the guests wearing a frock of brown elephant crepe, with a smart hat to tone. The bridegroom’s mother wore an ensemble of navy crepe de chene with hat to tone.

The bride travelled in a frock of brown patterned crinkled crepe, with a brown coat and hat to tone. Mr and Mrs Williams will make their home on the West Coast.
