GOVERNING BODY MEETS FINANCES SOUND By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, April 30. Tne annual meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association was held tonight. The chairman, Mr H. S. J. Goodman, said that the year had been most successful. He remarked especially on the progress the game had made on the West Coast. The annual report said that the finances were' in a satisfactory condition. The income exceeded the expenditure by £ll2, which left the accumulated fund at £430. Referring to the visit of the Indian team, the report stated that the team would be representative of the whole of India, and certainly the best team that had visited New Zealand. The Association had had to accept heavy financial responsibilities to arrange the tour, but it was hoped that the team would prove such an attraction that the response would be generous. Hockey would receive a great stimulus and the standard of play should be improved. The election of officers resulted: Patron, His Excellency the GovernorGeneral; president, Mr H. S. J. Goodman; vice-presidents, the presidents of the affiliated Associations; treasurer. Mr P. N. Quartermain; secretary, Mr W. H. Down; management committee, Messrs R. Gracie, H. Throp, A. F. Preston, C. Bellamy, G. Strack, I. Gunn, and C. C. Holland. WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, April 30. At the twenty-seventh annual meeting of the New Zealand Women’s Hockey Association to-night, it was stated that the women’s team to tour Australia in July was expected to be announced by June 1. Mrs J. H. Poulter, of Wellington, was appointed manager. It was decided to extend an invitation to the Fiji Women’s Hockey Association to send a team to New Zealand in 1936.
