WINCHESTER

PERSONAL Mrs A. B. Scott and family have returned to Winchester from a holiday spent at Timaru. Miss Milbrey Heap and Mr C. Counsel, have returned to Christchurch after spending their Easter vacation with Mrs A. B. Scott, Winchester. Mrs J. C. L. Mcßratney, Winchester, has returned home from a holiday spent at Timaru. Mr A. Gilbert who had been on a visit to his sister, Mrs J. L. Greenall, has returned to Southbridge. HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETING The annual meeting of householders was held on Monday. Present were Mr T. H. Langford (chairman), Mesdames A. B. Scott, W. Bill, Messrs J. Deßenzy, J. L. Greenall and B. Trumper. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of Mr J. L. White and Mr J. C. L. Mcßratney. On the motion of Messrs J. L. Greenall and B. Trumper, the annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. There was a credit balance of £l3 9s. The chairman stated that owing to the death of Mr J. C. L. Mcßratney and the removal of Mr G. Burborough to Timaru, Messrs J. L. Greenall and B. Trumper had been elected to fill the vacancies on the committee. The chairman reported that the damage done to the artificial wreath had been repaired. Mr Oldham (headmaster) said he intehded to hold a concert after the winter.

Mr Oldham reported that he was pleased with the school and surroundings, and also by the way he and Mrs Oldham had been received by the residents of Winchester. The work had gone on satisfactorily. The arrangements at Temuka for the King’s Jubilee celebrations were well in hand. At a meeting of the committee after the annual meeting, present were Messrs T. H. Langford, J. L. Greenall, J. Deßenzy, and B. Trumper. The chairman extended a welcome to Mr B. Trumper, who was recently elected to the committee. The headmaster asked to have 36 square yards of concrete laid down on the north side of the school. On the motion of Messrs Greenall and Trumper It was decided to have the work done.
