Colquhoun, expressing the hope that he would speedily be restored to health again. The Certifying Officer, reporting on unemployment registrations, stated that at the end of the previous week there were 281 names on the list. Last week 27 new applications had been received, and five names had been removed, leaving a balance of 303 men registered at the end of last week. Angling Report: During the week-end eight salmon were caught at the Waitaki River by North Otago anglers. Mr J. Martyn, of Oamaru, secured two nice fish, one weighing 1611bs and the other 151bs, and Mr Adams, of the Hydro, a similar number, the biggest of which turned the scales at 301bs. Four other fishermen caught one each. The season for trout will close at the end of this month (at midnight to-night), but an exception is made for the portion of the Waitaki River from the mouth of the Maerewhenua River to the mouth of the Waitaki River, the season for salmon only closing a fortnight later, on May 15.
