STATEMENT DENIED
WELFARE OF WORKLESS GIRLS By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, April 30. Social workers emphatically deny the statement made in Christchurch that many single girls are being driven to the streets. It was stated that if jobs were not available, girls were taken on at unemployment rooms, paid 7/6 weekly, and given a hot meal daily, with mornnig and afternoon tea. Assistance was given those in need of clothes, and there was no need for any unemployed girl to want.
