PERSONAL Mrs A. Douglas, who has been on a visit to Cheviot and Chertsey, has returned home. Mr L. Sullivan, who has been an inmate of the Timaru Hospital, was able to return home on Saturday. ANZAC SERVICE There was a record attendance at the Pareora Presbyterian Church on Sunday evening, when ex-soldiers of the Pareora and St. Andrews district attended a special Anzac service conducted by the Rev. L. J. Hodson. Mr Hodson, who commenced the service by reading His Majesty’s message’ to all ex-soldiers, gave a most inspiring address. Mr A. Glassey read the lesson, Mr R. Whitticase called the roll and Mr R. Gregory placed a wreath on the memorial. Mrs Edwards (St. Andrews) sang a solo. Mrs J. W. Bennett was organist. At the close of the service all stood while Piper Don Munro played a lament, "Flowers of the Forest.” GENERAL In the opening games of football played on Saturday, Pareora juniors beat Washdyke by 9 points to 3. Pareora fourths lost to Celtic by 9 points to 3. No interest was shown by parents in school affairs, there being only about eight people present at Monday night’s meeting. The committee’s report showed that school matters were quite satisfactory.
