AWARDS TO AUCKLANDERS By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, February 6. By a decree dated December 3, the President of the French Republic, M. Lebrun has been pleased to confer thu following honours upon residents of Auckland. Cross of the Knight of the Legion of Honour G. W. Hutchison, C.M.G., Mayor cf Auckland. Hon. John Alexander, C.M.G., M.L.C., president of the Auckland branch of the Navy League. Rev. A. K. Vickery, chaplain of the Missions to Seamen at Auckland. Officer de PAcademie Mrs M. M. Ifwerson, president of the Mercantile Auxiliary Club. The Cross of the Knight of the Legion of Honour is the highest French honour. The awards have been made as a token of appreciation of the very cordial welcome which the city cf Auckland and the institutions mentioned have never failed to extend to the various French warships calling at this port.
