ORARI GORGE
FAREWELL SOCIAL A farewell social to Mr and Mrs C W. Markham was held in the Orari Gorge schoolroom. Mr A. Adamson, chairman of the school committee, referred in eulogistic terms to the guests of the evening. Mr Markham had been an asset to the district. Mr R. Yates said Mr Markham had accomplished splendid work as one of the founders of the Crown Tenants’ Association, and as Dominion Secretary had placed the Association on a sound footing. Mr Yates then presented Mr and Mrs Markham with a handsome clock. Mr F. Pratt endorsed the remarks of the previous speakers. Mr and Mrs Markham suitably replied.
