WEATHER RECORDS In November 1.32 inches of rain fell as against 5.72 inches in November last year. Rain fell on 13 days. Nineteen days of sunshine were enjoyed. The highest temperature was 86 degrees, <B7 degrees for last Nov.) and the lowest was 54 degrees (Nov. 1934. 50 degrees). The total rainfall for the 11 months is 28.21 inches, the highest rceord for the last eight years. The previous highest was 27.27 inches for 1929. the average for the period being 23.03 inches. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY At the usual monthly meeting of the Executive of the Orari Horticultural Society there were present Mr W. E. Cook (president), Mesdames G. Birdling. W. Watson, Misses M. Gunn, K. Muff. Messrs E. L. B. Pemberton, A. Rysdale (treasurer), T. Bates, E. R. O'Neill, and L. Pierce (secretary). It was decided that in future the garden competition should be called the Guyon A. M. Macdonald Home and Garden Competition. Donations of prize money were made by Mrs G. A. M. Macdonald and Mr T. D. Burnett. M.P. It was decided to appoint Messrs G. H. Patrick and G. Coombs as judges of the competition, for which five entries had been received. To mark the Society’s appreciation of the interest shown in the Society by Mr G. Batty, it was decided to elect him a Life Member. Donations were promised by Messrs R. Payne and C. E. Carter. Mr E. L. B. Pemberton was appointed a steward in the Potato and Roots Section.
