FASHION NOTES
The neatest little suits imaginable are to be worn this autumn. All are of hairy or rough tweed with tight fitting very slim skirts cut on the bias and with only one join at the side of the back. Most of the skirts are high waisted. Little coats reach about four or five inches below the waistline. Collars at the back of the neck are quite narrow but revers are very wide and pointed, and faced with the same material as the blouse worn with the suit. Blouses are of soft woollen materials in diagonal stripes, or of taffeta in check designs. All the hats worn with these suits are made of the same material in soft Russian and vagabondish styles with high crowns scrumpled in at the top. These are a few of the features of Victor Stiebel’s collection shown in his salon. Some colour schemes in these suits were reseda green and aluminium grey, blue and burgundy, grey-green and yellow, and navy and red. Many of the coat sleeves resemble those on dressing gowns, with the turn-up cuff. All evening gowns are very tight fitting, so slimming and dieting must continue if one is to wear these slender gowns. The skirts of them are all cut on the bias. Many have high fronts and low spoon-shaped openings at the back. One of the loveliest models was an evening dress of mushroom pink in a rough crepe. There was a longish tail train and the top of the dress formed a tunic effect. A huge bunch of pinky lavender flowers decorated the front of the corsage Most of the evening gowns here had either large bunches of flowers at the front of the dress or a trail attached diagonally from one shoulder to the opposite side of the waist. Two huge lilies with yellow centres were attached to the corsage of a rich brown panne velvet gown which had revers outlining the back opening.
