IMPORTS OF BEEF
IMPORTANT CONFERENCE ARRANGED
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright LONDON, December 17.
Lively interest attaches to Mr W. E. Elliot’s and Mr J. H. Thomas’s meeting with the Dominion High Commissioners to-morrow, because there is considerable doubt whether Australia will regulate beef exports in the January and March quarters, whereas every other Dominion and Southern Rhodesia have agreed. Mr Bruce, in such an event, will be invidiously placed, because the Dominions’ unanimity is tactically necessary to enable them to negotiate. A most important long-term policy is expected from to-morrow’s meeting, and for the first time since the meat talks were initiated it will face the real issue.
